NEXT GENERATION CPE Session

14.00   Application-Aware Software-Defined WANs: The VPN Revolution
Explaining how Application-Aware SD-WANs, based on white-box x86 CPEs, enables SPs to economically enhance theirs end-customer’s MPLS VPN throughput and application performance while providing distributed secure Hybrid-Access.

Hector Avalos, VP Strategy & Business Development, Versa Networks

14.20   Comparison of Approaches for CPE Virtualization
With the evolution of NFV and SDN, customers are looking at different way to deliver Enterprise VPN services. Outlining different business drivers which are emerging and explaining different architectures in which NFV/SDN are applied. Highlighting the differences in each approach and the potential drawback/benefits customers get when adopting a given approach.

Wim Henderickx, Director, Network Solutions and Consulting, IP Division, Nokia

14.40   The evolviNG CPE
The concept of a vCPE has evolved over its short life, following a pendulum swing from relocating customer premises functionalities to the cloud, back to placement of cloud functionalities in the customer premises. Presenting vCPE architectural options and then comparing implementation options based on suitability and performance for various use cases.

Yaakov Stein, CTO, RAD

15.00   SDN4Business: from a Live Service Trial to Large Scale Deployment
Orange Business Services unveiled in 2015 the EasyConnect project as a live SDN/NFV service trial for SMBs. EasyConnect introduced a self-care portal where the customer can customize its service chain and flow policy in real time. After one year of operations, presenting the outcomes of this service trial and how Orange Business Service intends to propose large scale SDN/NFV based services through the SDN4Business program.

Stephane Litkowski, Network Architect, Orange

15.20   COFFEE BREAK

15.50   ODL based SD-WAN Solution for Operators
Describing how a competitive SD-WAN solution using OpenDaylight-based SDN and NFV technologies can be provided by CSPs & MSOs.

Barak Perlman, Senior System Architect,
Hewlett Packard Enterprise

16.10   Augmenting MPLS VPN Services with NFV and SD WAN
Demonstrating how Network Function Virtualization (NFV) and Software Defined WAN (SD-WAN) can be used to augment and increase the value of MPLS-based VPN services. The Virtual Network Functions (VNFs) can be deployed in a centralized Telco cloud or on a Universal CPE (UCPE) device than can host virtual machines or containers.

Bruno Rijsman, VP Architect, Juniper Networks

16.30   Telefonica: Developping a Residential CPE (a Virtualized Home Environment)

Diego R. Lopez,
Senior Technology Expert, Telefonica I+D

16.50   Everything That's Wrong with vCPE & What we Should Do About That
There is a myriad of inherent problems and limitations associated with NFV and specifically with vCPE that need to be addressed if the vCPE vision is to materialize. Discussing how to effectively deploy vCPE and what needs to change to ensure that this deployment is a success.

Hayim Porat, CTO, ECI

17.10   Protecting SDN and NFV Networks from Cyber Security Vulnerabilities
Potential threats include device malware, DDoS attacks, advanced persistent threats (APT) and more.Presenting an end-to-end NFV cyber security solution, which provides telcos with full visibility across the entire network and initiates immediate defensive action to protect networks from advanced, targeted attacks.

Gal Ofel, Head of Software Solutions PLM, Telco System
